15th Annual Dixie Power Kite Festival

April 12, 2014

Kite Festival

Kite Festival 2013

Located at the SunRiver Golf Course from 10 am – 7 pm. This is a FREE event for the whole family. The activities include open kite flying, continuous entertainment, music, concessions, and vendors.

The Kite Festival was started to promote reading in elementary age children. All of the elementary students in Washington County received a calendar a couple months ago to keep track of their daily reading. Students can turn in their calendar at the Kite Festival for a kite or a book.

You do not have to have elementary age children to attend this event. I took my children before they were in school. We packed a lunch and kites and had a wonderful afternoon. I suggest bringing cash if you would like to buy food or for the little kid rides and bounce houses, and don’t forget the sunscreen.

Directions: Drive south on I-15 and take Exit 2 (after the Bloomington Walmart exit) and you will see parking in a dirt field to your right. There will be buses there to shuttle you to the event and they are FREE.
